Athletics Day

When I was nine years old, our school had an Athletics Day. We all competed in lots of events, like High Jump, Long Jump, Vortex, Shot Put, Discus and Sprints.
After we walked around the field, we went to discus. The discus was black as a cat. It was hard. It was light and rubbery. I put my arm out in front of me and threw the discus. Even though if I didn't get first, I tried my best.
Next, we ran to high jump. It had a blue mat steel pole and a plastic pole as well. I jumped as high as I could and I made it, but, when it was the last jump, I knocked the pole over. I came third. I felt really good about myself.

Finally, we went to long jump. It had yellow sand. The sand was as soft as silk. The mat was colourful blue, red and green. The grass was as soft as a pillow and it was fresh too. I got in a line. When it was my turn, I ran and jumped into the sand. I did a big jump.
It was a fun day, but I was very tired when I got home from
school that afternoon.
